MAB

Marker-Assisted Backcross (MAB)

Using genetic markers can be highly useful in a breeding backcross program and save multiple backcross generations.

In a marker-assisted backcross we identify heterozygous descendants and eliminate susceptible plants based on their marker test results.

We measure the percent of similarity of descendant H plants to the recurrent parent by utilizing Gene-G fingerprint set (up to 120 markers), and then crossing only the descendant H plant with the original recurrent parent.
